Increase to Visa Processing Fees

Effective, April 30, 2020 the Government of Canada has increased its Visa Processing Fee.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada states that Permanent residence fees have not increased since 2002 and as such, they do not reflect the rise in inflation over the last 18 years and the increasing cost of permanent residence operations and processing.

The increase on April 30 will affect applicants to most economic permanent residence immigration programs, except caregivers. The fees will then be automatically adjusted for inflation every 2 years for all permanent residence applications, including the economic, family, and humanitarian programs, beginning in 2022.

Fee Increased as per applications before and after April 30, 2020:

Economic Immigration each Adult: Processing fee $550 ($825) and right of permanent residence fee $490 ($500)
Economic Immigration each Child: Processing fee $150 ($225)
Family sponsorship each Adult: Right of permanent residence fee $490 ($500)

Applicants who have already submitted a Visa Application and paid the fees prior to this date will not be affected by this Increase.
