The birth rate in Canada dropping due to COVID-19, immigration levels

As a side effect of COVID-19, there has been a sharp decline in birth rates in Canada. This was reported in the Science magazine editorial. According to the publication, many couples have postponed or reduced planning for more children due to declining incomes. The immediate effect of this can be forecasted as following. We may face a drop in childcare demand by 2023-2024, then a drop in kindergarten in 2025 and a reduction in teenagers willing to work at summer jobs and part-time positions in the 2030s. This may require immigration levels to be raised further in order to meet Canada's labour force requirements.
